2.0 is the new mega-budget science fiction action thriller film in India. The movie features superstar Rajinikanth as a mechanical robot with human emotions in the lead role. It is a sequel to the 2010 movie “Enthiran: The Robot (in Tamil)” aka “Robot.” The film, like its predecessor, is a Shankar directed movie.
Shankar is a leading director in India and known for many mega-budget films like “I’, Anniyan (The Stranger), Nanban (Tamil remake of 3 idiots), etc. Moreover, the movie also features leading Bollywood superstar, Akshay Kumar as the main antagonist (villain). Akshay is playing the role of an evil scientist named Dr.Richard. The movie is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner Lyca Productions. The movie “2.0” otherwise called “Robot 2” is one of the most expensive movies made in India till date.
2.0 Movie Release Date
The film will hit the screens all over the globe, on November 29, 2018. The makers of the film are planning to make its release, one of the most significant launch events across the country. Rumors are that the film will be released in more than 7000 screens in India itself. The movie was earlier scheduled to release in October 2017. Owing to post-production and dubbing reasons, the movie release was re-scheduled to a later date.
What’s so unique to 2.0?
The film will mark Rajnikanth’s third venture with director Shankar after the hit movies Sivaji: The Boss and Enthiran: The Robot. The legendary A.R Rahman like almost every time is handling the music department. The film director Shankar, himself wrote the script along with B. Jeyamohan. Akshay is making his debut appearance in a south Indian film with 2.0.
It is for the first time Rajinikanth, and Akshay Kumar is coming together in one frame. The buzz is that the film will be dubbed to 15 languages including Chinese, Japanese and Korean. If the ‘releasing in more than 7000 theatres in India’ is true, then it will be the first movie to be released in a most number of theatres.
Now the movie holding record with most releasing theatres is Baahubali 2. Baahubali 2 was released in 6500 theatres across the country. 2.0 also features Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in important roles. The film has already bagged 110 crore rupees from the satellite rights before the release. There are also rumors of Amitabh Bachchan playing a cameo in the film, as he is seen in one of the sets of the movie.

2.0 Audio Launch Event
The 2.0 movie audio launch will be held in Dubai on October 27th, 2017 (Friday). Music Director A.R Rahman will be doing a live performance at the event.
